Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Toedtman talked about current headlines, including U.S. secret arms shipments to Bosnian forces via Iran and other stories. In the next segment, Senators Ashcroft and Simon talked about current issues in Congress, including President Clinton’s laughing after one of Secretary Brown’s memorial services. In the next segment, Mr. Kuntz and Mr. Neubauer discussed Rep. Rostenkowski’s plea agreement in which he pled guilty to two counts of mail fraud and the general issue of congressional ethics. In the last segment, studio and remote guests discussed the congressional agenda for the rest of the 104th Congress and the impact of the 1996 campaign on it. close
