Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, Carol Browner and other EPA officials announced proposed new regulations for higher air quality standards in U.S. urban areas. These new regulations are intended to reduce the amount of ozone and particulates, small particles which are released by automobiles, utility companies and steel mills. If enacted either by congressional approval or congressional failure to override a presidential veto, the new rules would cause hundreds of urban counties to invent new standards in order to comply. close
