American Medical Association officials announced a new Medicare reform proposal. It is designed to provide seniors with a wide variety of options and ensure the program’s solvency for the next 15 years. The savings would come primarily from seven percent annual premium increases, competition among several health care providers and the elimination of supplemental health insurance plans. The plan also calls for spending increases at the rate of two percent over the growth in the Gross Domestic Product, which is far below both Democratic and Republican proposals. close
