Members of the House Representatives and representatives of various groups belonging to the Stop Corporate Welfare Coalition, who were wearing stop signs with “Stop Corporate Welfare” on them, briefed reporters on the need to reduce various types of subsidies to U.S. companies. The group has targeted twelve programs for elimination as a first step to ensuring that corporations share in the effort to balance the budget. Some of the programs include the International Monetary Fund, the Rural Electrification Association and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation. close
