Professor Ambrose, who is chairing the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, reviewed the successful assault by U.S. infantrymen on D-Day at Omaha Beach. Some veterans of the 116th infantry and other units present were applauded by the audience. Following his prepared remarks, he took questions from the audience. Ambrose is the author of Undaunted Courage: Merriweather Lewis, Thomas Jefferson and the Opening of the American West. close
