Vice President Al Gore announced a new initiative to combat domestic

violence in cooperation with the postal service. The domestic

violence hotline number will be posted on the back of stamp booklets

to make citizens more aware of the hotline, which assists victims of

domestic violence. The vice president related his experiences as a

police reporter for the Nashville Tennessean and his understanding

of the “astonishing” amount of domestic violence around the country

that is reported to police and reaffirmed the administration’s

commitment to combating domestic violence and crime of all kinds. close
