Committee members heard from several economists representing various economic interests concerning future monetary policy. They stressed that the U.S. economy is peforming very well and that monetary policy must continue to facilitate economic growth. They also testified about the Federal Reserve’s decision to raise interest rates by .25 percent in March. This was a part of the semi-annual report to Congress on the state of the economy required by the Humphrey-Hawkins Act. close
