This House session began with Morning business and continued with debate on $270 billion in spending for the Labor, Health & Education Departments. This bill is one of 13 annual Appropriations bills which fund the federal government. The deadline for those bills is October 1, the start of the new fiscal year. Up to this time, the House had approved nine of the FY 98' bills, the Senate had passed ten. Several motions to adjourn were made before the debate began. The session ended with Special Order speeches. close
