Senator John Warner(R-VA) held a press conference in the SENATE galley to respond to the president’s announcement that U.S. troops would remain in Bosnia past June 1, 1998. He stated that he supported a continuing U.S. presence because he has firsthand knowledge of the situation in Bosnia which necessitates a continuing NATO presence. He also emphasized that the president should be honest about conditions in Bosnia in explaining the need for an indefinite U.S. presence there. close
