Microsoft officials William Neukom and Bob Herbold announced the company decision to comply with a court order to allow personal computer manufacturers to license its Windows 95 operating system without the installation of the Microsoft Internet Explorer. Particularly the Explorer software will remain part of Windows 95, but the icon will disappear so that most users are unaware that they have it. The officials also stressed that Microsoft continues to believe that consumers should determine the software available on their computers through market competition. close
