America’s union members and leaders came together at Chicago’s Navy Pier July 25-28 for the convention “Building New Strength and Jobs for Working Families,” the 50th anniversary of the merger of the AFL and the CIO. During the morning of the opening day, AFL-CIO leaders and U.S. Congressmen talked about such issues as fair wages, protecting American jobs, health care, and free trade.
