A January poll by the Houston Chronicle showed Rep. DeLay’s support was 22%, but Republican strategist Allen Blakemore predicted Mr. DeLay would get at least 60 percent of the vote. The Democrat in District 22 is former Rep. Nick Lampson, who was ousted from his former House seat (in District 9) under the redistricting plan engineered by Rep. DeLay.
