President Trump spoke at a campaign rally for Senator Luther Strange (R-AL). Senator Strange, who was appointed in February 2017 to fill the seat vacated by Attorney General Jeff Sessions, was facing former Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore in a Republican primary runoff election. The winner of the runoff would face former U.S. attorney Doug Jones (D) in the general election on December 12. At the rally, the president urged voters to support Senator Strange in the election and talked about North Korea’s nuclear program and Republican efforts to replace the Affordable Care Act, among other topics. In his comments he also criticized NFL players who kneel in protest before games during the playing of the national anthem. close
