The Senate passed H.R. 1900, to reauthorize the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act, the Adoption Opportunities Program and the the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act. The legislation is directed at reducing family violence and promoting the adoption of hard-to-place children. Members also passed the Independent Counsel Reauthorization Act, H.R. 2939. The bill limits the attorney general in seeking independent special prosecutors and extends the current law for five years. close
