As part of the Congressional Black Caucus awards dinner, Representative Jefferson recognized members of the caucus. Various awards were given to members of the African American community who have served as role models and advanced equality in America. Prior to each presentation, a short video was shown highlighting the accomplishments of the award recipient. The recipients included former Representative Julian Dixon, Representative Meeks, President Mogae, Dallas Cowboy Emmitt Smith, Mr. Chenault, Mr. Parsons and Ms. Brazille. Representative Dixon was recognized posthumously, and his wife Bettye Lee accepted the award on his behalf. In addition, Mrs. Smith accepted the award on behalf of her husband. close
