President Bush attended a ceremony at the White House in which Patricia Saiki was sworn in as Administrator for the Small Business Administration. He delivered brief remarks before the ceremony, in which he lauded the enthusiasm and ability of Ms. Saiki and the importance of the head position in the Small Business Administration. At the ceremony, Ms. Saiki expressed her appreciation for her nomination, and thanked her family for supporting her in her work. Following the ceremony, she spoke to reporters outside the White House on her priorities for the Small Business Administration as she enters office. She named wider availability of loans for education and entrepreneurship and the expansion of international commerce as two of her main concerns. close
