Iowa Presidential Candidate Forum
This was the eighth in a series of forums with leading Democratic presidential candidates being held across Iowa. Senator Tom Harkin was a 1992 Democratic presidential candidate. He used funds from a political action committee to sponsor these town hall meetings. Iowa would host the first-in-the-nation presidential caucuses on Monday, January 19, 2004.

Democratic presidential candidate Rev. Al Sharpton participated in a “Hear It from the Heartland” forum series in Sioux City, Iowa, hosted and moderated by Iowa Senator Tom Harkin (D). Rev. Sharpton talked about his platform and goals, including repealing tax cuts, improving health care and education, and amending the constitution to protect the right to vote, guarantee health care, guarantee education, and protect equal rights. He also responded to questions from the audience.
