Speakers talked about leadership in public service. Secretary Tom Ridge spoke about his own experiences, from his time in the Armed Forces as a young man to his current position as Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. He discussed his leadership style and how he has developed as a leader over time. He also spoke about how the need for effective leaders in government service is especially important after September 11, and how the Bush Administration, and particularly the Department of Homeland Security, has responded to that need for leadership. close
