The guests, by remote connection from Ohio, talked about the state of Ohio, which was one of the battlegrounds in the 2994 presidential election. They also focused on the state’s jobs, voting procedures, presidential campaign activities in the state, and responded to telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail from viewers.
Mayor Campbell talked about Cleveland’s role in Ohio politics and its economic and political future Cleveland is the city with the highest poverty rate in the U.S. The mayor held a poverty summit last Friday to work through ideas on how to address poverty. Mr. Beckwith telephoned from Columbus, Ohio to talk about the activities of the Bush campaign in Ohio. In Cleveland, Mr. Naymik talked about the social, financial and political factors that make Ohio a battleground state.
In Cleveland, Mr. Johnson talked about how many jobs had been lost in the state and state employment policy. Topics to be included are: loss of manufacturing jobs, outsourcing, job training programs and job creation proposals by both President Bush and John Kerry. Mr. Johnson was appointed by Republican Governor Bob Taft. Ms. Hanauer will offer an opposing viewpoint on the causes of job losses and the potential for job creation within the state. She also offered her viewpoint on the job creation plans of both President Bush and Senator Kerry. close
