Mr. Marron talked about a report issued on January 26, 2006 by the Congressional Budget Office that forecasts that the Iraq war and hurricane-related costs would help expand the U.S. deficit. The report suggested the deficit would reach 337 billion dollars. It also reported that President Bush is unlikely to reach his target of cutting the deficit in half by 2009.
