As part of a commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, two of the Japanese aviators who flew during the attack talked about their experiences on December 7, 1941. They were assisted by Mr. Yoshida. Mr. Wengert gave opening remarks. Paul Cobbett served as translator.

Zenji Abe was a dive bomber pilot from the aircraft carrier Akagi. He is the author of The Emperor’s Sea Eagle: A Memoir of the Attack on Pearl Harbor. Takeshi Maeda was a warrant officer and aviator from the aircraft carrier Kaga. He saw action at Pearl Harbor as a crew member aboard a torpedo plane that attacked Battleship Row. Jiro Yoshida was a Zero pilot who saw service in the defense of Japan. After the war, he helped formulate the Japanese Naval Aviators Veterans Society. close
