President Obama and Treasury Secretary Geithner announced new guidelines for the compensation of financial industry executives. The new rules would set a $500,000 annual cap on executive pay for companies getting taxpayer funds. They also indicated that more such measures were planned in efforts to overhaul the crisis-hit U.S. financial sector. Secretary Geithner also spoke about a “comprehensive plan for financial recovery” to be released the following week. close
