General Petraeus spoke about military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and said the fight against al-Qaida had been “mildly positive” and called for a “whole of governments” approach to counterterrorism. He also declined to discuss what he called “pre-decisional details” on whether to send more troops to Afghanistan or other measures that should be taken in the war there, saying only that numerous discussions with a “considerable degree of intensity” will be taking place over the next several days. close
