The United States Treasury Building in Washington, DC was constructed between 1836 and 1869 and is located beside the White House at 1500 Pennsylvania Avenue.

American History TV visited the Treasury building to learn about a long term restoration project begun in 1986.

In this second of a two part program, Treasury Department curator Richard Cote gives a tour of Secretary Timothy Geithner’s office; a suite of rooms that has served Treasury Secretaries since 1910.

We also learn about restoration of the ornate West Dome and the gold gilding that had once been painted over and forgotten. close
