Matthew Wald talked about the investment of federal money to improve the U.S. electrical grid, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. Since 2007 and with additional funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the federal government has invested billions in an effort to ensure the delivery of electricity. The government also operates the Smartgrid program, which consists of devices attached to transmission and delivery lines plus homes to help detect and fix problems with the grid.
