The Alliance for Health Reform held a briefing for reporters about “narrow networks,” health care plans with smaller provider ranks than the competition, and their ability to provide deliver high-quality care at a lower cost than larger rivals. At the time of this discussion, several insurance companies were excluding certain providers from their networks in an effort to control costs following the health care law. Ted Nickel, Wisconsin’s insurance commissioner, stressed a mixed regulatory approach because each state is different and a “one- size-fits-all” approach would not work. close
