President Obama and King Felipe VI of Spain spoke to reporters in the Oval Office following their meeting. They spoke about bilateral cooperation in defense and counter-terrorism and Spain’s economic recovery. President Obama expressed support for a strong and unified Spain and concern for the refugee crisis. They also noted that King Felipe VI would be visiting St. Augustine, Florida, for the 450th anniversary of the first European settlement in the U.S.

President Obama’s remarks were translated consecutively from English to Spanish. King Felipe VI spoke first in English and then in Spanish, without translations. close
