President Clinton spoke to reporters to announce plans for a reduction in the staff and salaries in the Executive Branch. He said further reductions would be made in other federal agencies and departments to save Americans money, and to make the federal government do more with less. Following his prepared statements, the president left the room while White House Chief of Staff McLarty approached the microphone to brief reporters on the specific changes in the Executive Branch. close
