The National Commission on Military, National, and Public Service (NCMNPS) held a hearing on potential policies to encourage or require military, national and public service from all Americans. Panelists in the afternoon session of the event examined the pros and cons of a mandatory service program. Speakers included two former White House advisers who worked under Presidents Reagan and Clinton.

In 2017, Congress created NCMNPS to review the selective service system and whether women should be required to register as all 18-25 year old males are required to do so. They also are charged with suggesting ways to create a universal expectation of national military, national or public service. close
