The House adopted the debate rules for two measures. The budget resolution sets the fiscal year 2021 budget and instructs certain committees to report out COVID-19 pandemic relief legislation by February 16. The National Apprenticeship Act of 2021 reauthorizes the act and is aimed at creating apprenticeship opportunities over the upcoming five years. Lawmakers also approved a new rule that imposes fines on members who do not comply with new screening procedures to enter the House chamber: $5,000 for the first offense and $10,000 for each offense thereafter. The rule was created in response to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. close
