The Senate continued work on a bill to create new science and technology programs in an effort to compete better against China. Members also passed by unanimous consent legislation by Senators Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Mike Braun (R-IN) requiring the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information on any potential links between Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origins of COVID-19 pandemic. Christine Wormuth’s nomination for Army secretary was confirmed by unanimous consent, but Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) later requested to reverse the approval, due to an unexplained procedural error. Her nomination was confirmed again the next day. close
