Former Senator George Mitchell (D-ME) was among the speakers at a conference on the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement hosted by Queens University Belfast. He reflected on his work in the U.S. Senate and as the first-ever U.S. Special Envoy for Northern Ireland, a position from which he helped broker the landmark 1997 peace agreement. During his remarks, Senator Mitchell also talked about his ongoing battle with leukemia. close
