New York state Assembly Member Jaime Williams (D) and New York City Councilwoman Joann Ariola (R) were among the witnesses testifying on migrant camps on National Park Service land before the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. The two lawmakers oppose the recent approval of Southeast Brooklyn’s Floyd Bennett Field by Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) as a temporary site to house an influx of migrants coming into New York City. Ms. Williams and Ms. Ariola spoke about the impact to the environment and safety of the surrounding community. They’ve asked for the lease provided by the federal government to be revoked. close
