Lawmakers debated a resolution to censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) for pulling a fire alarm in a House office building when there was not an emergency as members were voting on a government funding bill. The resolution said the incident was “a theatrical attempt to cause panic, therefore endangering the safety and well-being of members of the House, of staff, and members of the public on the Capitol grounds.” Rep. Bowman said it was a mistake. He pled guilty in Washington, D.C., court, was fined $1,000 and placed on probation, and was ordered to write an apology letter to the U.S. Capitol Police. close
