Senate Armed Services Committee Chair Jack Reed (D-RI) expressed his reservations on the handling of the war between Israel and Hamas. While agreeing that Israelis have the right to defend themselves, he said he does not see a clear and successful endgame coming from the Israeli government. Echoing Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s (D-NY) comments on Israel in a previous-week-floor address, Senator Reed stated, “Israel and its allies must acknowledge that Prime Minister Netanyahu’s failed policies and desperate pursuit of power created much of the tragic situation we are witnessing today.” close
