Laura Tyson, Chair of Council of Economic Advisors, briefed the media on the U.S. economy. Tyson indicated that the economy had moved from a “see-saw recovery” with escalating deficits over time to a “sustainable expansion” with deficits that decline relative to the size of the economy over time. Tyson said the numbers in the President’s Economic Report suggested that the expansion could be continued in a low inflation environment. close
