President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Tomiichi Murayama of Japan talked to reporters about their Oval Office meeting earlier in the day. The president said he and the prime minister discussed a wide range of issues including: the North Korean nuclear agreement; Japan’s chairmanship of APEC; the U.S.-Japanese bilateral economic relationship; and several joint projects on global issues. President Clinton also presented Prime Minister Murayama with a basket of Washington state apples which Japan has recently allowed to enter its markets more freely.
