The U.S. House reconvened and continued their legislative business. Members voted on several concurrent resolutions. Two of those congratulated the Central American nations of Guatemala, for the signing of their peace accords, and for Nicaragua, for their recent democratic elections. Members also voted to congratulate former Secretary of State Warren Christopher for his years of service. In the final vote of the day, members offered a statement of support for displays of The Ten Commandments as symbols of “a fair and just society.” After the votes the House allowed members time to speak on any topic they chose for a limited period of time. The House then adjourned at 5:12pm until 10am the following morning. close
