House Judiciary Committee members heard testimony from Mr. Hundt, cable industry officials and others concerning the rise in cable rates since the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was signed in February 1996. Mr. Hundt defended his agency’s cable television regulations against complaints issued by consumer groups that are calling for a price freeze.
