2016 Republican presidential candidate Florida Senator Marco Rubio called for votes on two amendments he introduced Wednesday on the Senate floor to a bill that would require President Obama to submit any nuclear agreement with Iran to Congress for review.
The first amendment would require the president to certify that Iran's leaders have publicly recognized Israel's right to exist. Foreign Relations Committee Ranking Member Ben Cardin called the amendment a "poison pill" that if passed would make it impossible to reach a final deal on Iran's nuclear program.
A second amendment would require that the deal the president submits be the exact deal he says it is. It's uncertain if Senator Rubio will get the votes he is asking for on either amendment. close
