Rachel Hoff, an LBJ School Master of Global Policy Studies graduate of the class of 2014, made history as the first openly gay person to sit on the Republican Party’s Platform Committee. On Monday, July 11, Rachel offered an amendment to the committee that would acknowledge the shifting sentiment within the GOP on same-sex marriage. The amendment, which did not pass, was a testament to Rachel’s fearlessness, passion and leadership in the face of opposition. “We are your daughters, your sons, your friends, your neighbors, your colleagues,” she said. “All I ask today is that you include me and those like me.” close
