Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer condemns President Trump's conduct at a news conference in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he refused to denounce Russian interference in the 2016 election. He calls on Senate Republicans to act to protect the Mueller probe and stop attacking the Justice Department and the FBI and to consider additional sanctions on Russia. Senate Republican Whip John Cornyn says he backs the Russia probe, but accuses Democrats of playing the "blame game" instead of preventing interference in future elections. "I trust our intelligence community. I trust their assessment that there was Russian meddling in the election but I also trust the investigation so far, which has shown absolutely no collusion with the Trump campaign an Russian intelligence activity leading up to the election." He also says he's in favor of considering additional sanctions against Russia. close
