Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer has announced that based on a reading of Senate Rule 26, he will formally seek access for all senators to all records of Supreme Court nominee Judge Kavanaugh, which are currently in the possession of Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee. The rule states, in part, that "such records shall be the property of the Senate and all members of the committee and the Senate shall have access to such records." Senator Schumer also criticized President Trump for stripping former CIA Director John Brennan of his security clearance, calling it a "gross abuse of presidential power." He also called the president's threat to revoke the security clearance of Justice Department official Bruce Ohr "appalling," adding that "revoking security clearance is a decision that should be done for national security reasons, and national security reasons alone." close
