(Included due to lack of 1980s oral arguments.) When Rehnquist clerked for Robert Jackson in the 1950s, he wrote a memo called "A Random Thought on the Segregation Cases." The purpose of the memo was to persuade Jackson to affirm Plessy v. Ferguson.
