Mr. Savage had received a freedom of speech award from the magazine and several portions of e-mails from various listeners were read to indicate their response to C-SPAN’s programming decision not to cover the acceptance of the award, which had been produced on a DVD and played at the ceremony. Several callers also spoke about immigration issues.
In a later segment telephone calls were taken about President Eisenhower’s farewell speech predicting the rise of a military-industrial complex. A video clip of the speech was shown.
