The Department of Housing and Urban Development sponsored a meeting of federal, state, and local officials on the rebuilding efforts for people affected by the massive flooding of the Mississippi River earlier in the summer. The summit, which included a videotaped message from President Clinton, concentrated on housing issues, and also involved the presentation of government grants to aid redevelopment in the affected areas. Following the presentation, the panelists responded to questions from members of the audience. The meeting took place in Des Moines, IA. close
