The AFL-CIO and U.S. Business and Industry Council held a day-long conference on America’s growing trade deficit, “Trade Summit 2006: Crisis and Opportunity.” The second panel focused on the impact that rising trade deficits had had on the U.S. economy and proposed solutions to imbalances in foreign trade, including fair trade provisions protecting worker rights.
