He also discussed security for members of Congress, the Republican legislative agenda for the 112th Congress, and his presidential aspirations. He responded to viewer phone calls and questions from college students in the audience.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was shown signing a condolences book for victims of the shooting in Tucson.
