Rep. Jacobs Offers Resolution to Censure Rep. Mast

Rep. Sara Jacobs (D-CA) introduced a resolution Monday evening to censure Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) for "inflammatory statements regarding innocent Palestinian civilians in Gaza."

She pointed to a floor speech Rep. Mast gave last Wednesday, in which she said he "inexcusably compared innocent Palestinian civilians … to 'Nazi' collaborators that perpetrated the Holocaust against the Jewish people."

Rep. Mast, speaking in support of an Israel aid bill, said, "I think when we look at this, as a whole, I would encourage the other side to not so lightly throw around the idea of innocent Palestinian civilians. I don't think we would so lightly throw around the term innocent Nazi civilians."

Rep. Jacobs said the Florida Republican's "refusal to distinguish innocent Palestinians from Hamas terrorists is false, misleading, dehumanizing, dangerous, and unbecoming of a member of Congress." close
