Congressional leaders of both parties commemorated the 200th anniversary of the birth of Constantino Brumidi and praised his art. Brumidi, called the “capitol painter,” was best known for his fresco work in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. He was an Italian immigrant responsible for many paintings, sculptures and frescoes that adorn the U.S. Capitol Building. Senators Clinton and Enzi gave details about the Brumidi Resolution passed in the U.S. Senate. Senator Ted Stevens also spoke. close
